Architects – PLOT = BIG + JDS
First of all, the presentation by Miles Kemp was probably the most mind-blowing hour I have sat through. My thoughts after the presentation were that the future of architecture was almost limitless. Computer added technology has allowed designers to digitally represent structure and site in a new innovative way. The blurring between real-time and the digital realm was shocking in how advanced it is. Miles ideas about interactive nano-architecture was a world I didn’t know existed. My only question was wheather or not this idea is accessible to student work here in Calgary. It was as though, Miles has gone from the architectural field to the computer engineering field and back again. I wish I did my undergrad in computer science!
In relation to our mapping of the 4th street site conditions; I believe this is similar in the way we are diagramming normally unseen realities. We are blurring the lines between what is seen by public to the unseen systematic organizations working throughout the site. Communicating this is the next step and looking closer at Miles work hopefully will help in this.
THE FOLLOWING DIAGRAMS/SURFACES CO-EXIST AS THREE INTERTWINED ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEMS WITHIN THE 4TH STREET SITE. EACH DIAGRAM LEADS INTO THE NEXT; 2 WOULD NOT BE REALIZED WITHOUT 1 AND 3 WOULD NOT BE REALIZED WITHOUT 2.
